Time and Tide

Vintage pocket watch parts, sea glass, rescued red gum. (Sold)

I made this piece a while ago, being inspired by the wave shape of the fractured sea glass. It remained “in the collection of the artist” as the saying goes, until a lovely lady in a shop in Hurstbridge saw the photo of it as I flicked past it and asked to see it. Long story short, she purchased the piece as a gift for her partner, corresponding via email and requesting a stand be made for it. I posted the piece, swathed in bubble wrap. The lady emailed me to tell me how much she loved it, and to say she got quite emotional when she unwrapped it!

I love it when somebody connects with something I’ve made- she saw a fleeting glimpse of a phone photo and bought my creation on the strength of that – how magic!
