Opal, sea glass, rescued copper wire

I’ve mounted a 1.75 carat solid Australian opal on this lovely piece of sea glass and created the custom bail from rescued copper wire.

The photo doesn’t capture the wondrous fire of colour within the opal – you have to see it with the naked eye to really appreciate the magic within.

Sea glass is made by the action of the sea and sand smoothing the sharp edges of broken glass. This opal formed on the bed of a twenty million year old sea bed. I’ve united the two here to make a one off piece of jewellery.
